Premature baby weights only 900 grams at birth
100 days ago, a pregnant woman had an intrauterine infection, too little amniotic fluid and other conditions, she had to undergo a cesarean section, her baby came into this world. Because it was an ultra-premature baby with a gestational age of only 27 weeks, and it was also an ultra-low birth weight baby, only 900g, the baby was"held" into the NICU by the neonatology medical staffs as soon as it was born.
Neonatologist Liu Ying reviews the baby
Because the baby's birth weight was extremely low, gestational week was too short, the development of his various organs was extremely immature, especially his lung , he could not effectively breathe, and need to be given endotracheal intubation.
Intubation for such a small baby is undoubtedly a huge challenge. The director Cui Xiuping of the neonatal department relies on skilled practice to successfully complete the intubation in the shortest possible time. Although the intubation was successful and the pulmonary surfactant was successfully applied, the child was seriously ill, and the spontaneous breathing had been very weak, and in the first couple of days, Director Cui Xiuping and the medical staffs of the department were always guarding the baby.
The treatment of premature babies is not only very thrilling at the beginning of the rescue, but also in the later stage of breathing, blood, digestion and other systems to survive a difficult time. A variety of complications may appear at any time, the baby's condition may be further aggravated at any time.
Head nurse Ye Rongjuan and the nursing team inserted a neonatal PICC into his blood vessels, to create a pathway for him to deliver nutrients. Nasal feeding was given according to the baby's weight, and gastrointestinal digestion was observed at all times, which effectively prevented the occurrence of neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), gradually converted to complete oral feeding, and successfully helped the baby to pass the feeding difficulties.
With the efforts of the neonatal medical team and the active cooperation of parents, the baby gradually grew up with the hopes , and finally lived up to expectations in more than 100 days, ushered in the reunion of mother and child, and was successfully discharged from the hospital.
"Thank you to all the medical staff in the neonatology department, who gave the baby a second life. “The baby's family said excitedly.
